You can’t pour from an empty cup!
I saw this quote on social media last week and> it really resonated with me. And I think it highlights how important it is to look after yourself. Recently I have had a lot going on in my personal life. Which I will save for a future post. But I have definitely been letting things get on top of me. I am not spending enough time focusing in on me and> that needs to change.
I am always one for agreeing to do things for others, and> taking on all the responsibility. Being a bit of a control freak I like everything done my way. With my job as well I give a lot of energy to my clients, and> often over exert myself. But how can I give my best to my job, my family or my friends if I am suffering. Whilst I know that the next few months are going to be pretty hectic for me I want to make sure I am looking after myself. And therefore able to give my best to everything.
Let’s get organised!
For me the biggest help is going to be getting organised. A lot of what I have on I can’t change, but I can plan my time better. Being self-employed and> working flexible hours can be a godsend but it can mean time just passes you by. I need to work out what I need to do and> when I need to do it by. I can then focus on high priority tasks first. But ensure I allocate time to everything I have to do. I am not super woman (as much as I wish I was) so I can’t do everything all at the same time. But I can make sure I get everything done.
I also need to relax a little and> accept help and> assistance. And not try to take on everything all by myself. I need to trust that others can do the job properly. They may not do it the same way I would but if we both get to the same result then that’s all that matters.
Get back to healthy!
Another area that has slipped recently has been my training and> eating. I am finding it not only hard to find the time but when I do have the time I have no motivation. Whilst I know training will make me feel better I am in a bit of a slump. So initially I am just going to focus on 20 minute workouts 3-4 times a week, and> make sure I do something at the weekends as well. It is so easy to forget how good it makes you feel, and> instead you focus on how easy it is to skip. Even Personal Trainers struggle sometimes.
Making time for You!
Most importantly in all of this, I will be making more time for me. A small pamper session, a coffee with friends or even just a 20 minute stroll in the sun. I will make sure I take some time out. Sometimes it’s all you need to feel revitalised. When I get stuck in a rut or am so busy I end up spending my time procrastinating. Siting on the sofa staring mindlessly at the TV or social media, it is a complete waste of my time. I feel guilty for not working on something, and> it becomes a vicious cycle.
Hopefully by taking the time to get myself organised and> focusing more on me and> my health, I can get through the next few months with as little stress as possible.
