If you haven’t heard of Avocado Chocolate Mousse before – where have you been? This easy to make and> tasty dessert is a favourite among health foodies! And my Chocolate orange version is great for Christmas. Even more great is you can make it the day before, leaving more time to enjoy the festivities!
Avocados have some amazing health benefits and> their creamy taste and> texture works so well in this mousse recipe. I don’t think anyone would guess it was healthy – Unless you tell them of course!
Avocados contain high levels of lots of different vitamins and> minerals, and> I don’t think many of us realise how good for us they actually are. And yes while they are quite a fatty food we now know how outdated advice is to avoid fats. Avocados contain mainly the mono-unsaturated fats, or what we like to refer to as “healthy” fats.
To serve 4 you’ll need:
4 Tbsps Milk (I use Almond Milk)
5 Tbsps Cacao Powder
1 Tbsp Honey
1 Teaspoon of Vanilla Essence
Juice of 1 Orange (For a more intense orange flavour add a small amount of zest to the mixture)
Add all the ingredients into a food processor and> blend until smooth. You may need to scrap some of the mixture from the sides. Spoon into glasses or ramekins and> refrigerate for at least 3 hours – or overnight. Garnish and> serve.
