What is more perfect on a cold Christmassy night than snuggling up on the sofa with a hot chocolate? I’m not sure there is much.  So if like me you love this winter tradition you will go crazy for my healthier version.

Most shop bought hot chocolate powders contain sugar, artificial additives and> preservatives. My version uses natural ingredients, and> only a small amount of unrefined sugar. The chocolatey flavour comes from the cacao powder which is often hailed as a superfood.   Cacao contains lots of nutrients and> vitamins and> contains huge levels of antioxidants. It also contains high levels of magnesium which is great for muscle relaxation. Perfect after a busy day or a heavy training session.

Ingredients
2 teaspoons of Cacao (I used Lucy Bee Fair Trade Organic Cacao Powder 250 g)
250ml Milk (I’ve used Almond & Cows)
Pinch of Cinnamon (Optional but adds a hint of Christmas)
1 Teaspoon Honey

Method

Add the Cacao powder, cinnamon and> honey to a mug with a dash of hot water (just off the boil) and> make a paste. Warm your milk in a pan on the hob or in the microwave to the desired heat. Add the milk to the mug and> stir well, finish will a little dusting of cacao powder and> enjoy.
