If you didn’t catch it on my social media I recently visited the lovely ladies at Barrecore Alderley Edge to try out one of their classes. I received a complimentary voucher in my fabulous goodie bag at the Wedges & Weights Supper Club and> although it’s taken me a while to redeem it I’m so glad I finally did! I headed down to one of the classes on a Saturday morning, and> was pleasantly surprised. The studio is located on the main road in the village of Alderley Edge, so is easy to find and> there is plenty of parking options around. On entering I was greeted by Carly, who showed me where everything was & I completed my health questionnaire. They have a small area upstairs with lockers, and> other amenities including complimentary towels – after dropping my stuff in one of the lockers I was ready to go!

I opted for the Barrecore Mixed Class which is their signature class and> recommended for beginners, the class is described as a low impact, full body, interval training program using isometric exercises alternated with stretching. The class is an hour long, and> you mainly use your own body weight but small pieces of equipment are incorporated. In the class I took we used a resistance band>, and> a small ball. We started with a short warm up, and> then hit all body parts throughout the hour – including legs, arms, glutes & abs – boy you feel the burn!! This is a totally different type of exercise to the heavy weights & high intensity cardio I usually do and> I was surprised at how much I struggled throughout the class. Sarah who took the class was really encouraging and> motivated me to keep going when I wanted to stop, which was actually quite often! Some of the benefits of Barrecore include reduced body fat, elongated firm muscles, strength, endurance and> increased energy.

I really enjoyed the class, it is a fabulous workout and> would be perfect for anyone wanting to add some variety into their current training, or requiring a lower impact option. Unfortunately the studio in Alderley Edge is a little bit awkward for me to get to on a regular basis but if ever I am in the area again I will definitely be returning to another class.
