I know from personal experience that when you are trying to lose weight, eat clean or change your lifestyle sweet treats can be one of the first things to go. And whilst this is a good idea, it can be tough! So hopefully today I am going to show you some ideas of how you can still get that sweet fix whilst maintaining your healthy lifestyle.
So here are a few ideas for you to try:
Nakd Bars! I absolutely love these in particular the Cocoa Mint ones, they aren’t chocolate of course but I do think they give you that chocolate flavoured hit. Check them out here: https://www.naturalbalancefoods.co.uk/nakd/
Greek Yoghurt! I love Greek yoghurt with a dash of honey, and> maybe some nuts, or what about healthy eton mess – grab some meringue nests (granted they do contain added sugar but it’s all about balance eh!), crush over the top of your yoghurt and> add some berries and> a lovely evening snack!
Homemade treats! There are so many great blogs around with healthy recipes to try at home, I will admit that I am not a great lover of cooking or baking so I take my inspiration from Health Food Blogs for recipes. Have a look at my old blog post of my favourite bloggers, https://ode2fitness.co.uk/my-favourite-blogs/ there are of course others but these 3 should give you some great ideas. I also love Madeleine Shaw’s book “Get the Glow” (review to come soon!) so this may be one to grab if you get chance!
Protein Mug Cake! These are my new favourite thing for an evening sweet treat, it takes less than 5 minutes from start to finish, probably including eating for me and> tastes amazing! And with the added protein it’s super filling! In a mug add a scoop of chocolate protein powder, a tablespoon of cocoa powder and> 1/2 tsp baking powder. Mix and> then add the wet ingredients, 2 tablespoons of almond milk, 1 egg white and> a tablespoon of honey. Mix all together and> then ping in the microwave for 30 seconds to a minute – Enjoy!
Metcalfes Skinny Popcorn! I love popcorn as a sweet treat, you get so much in a portion and> really feel like you are eating loads! They are a great alternative to crisps, or cinema popcorn and> they come in some great flavours. Have a look here for more information http://metcalfesskinny.com/collections/popcorn
Dark Chocolate, if you really can’t get past the need for chocolate then go for dark chocolate. Have a look at my old blog post on chocolate https://ode2fitness.co.uk/life-is-like-a-box-of-chocolates/ – a few squares should give you the hit you need!
So there you go, you can enjoy some sweet treats as part of a healthy balanced diet – what are your favourites?
