I love Zumba!

I think it is an excellent workout and> it is so much fun, the whole ethos behind Zumba is fun fun and> more fun so you really don’t feel like you are exercising, you feel like you are partying!

Zumba is a dance fitness programme, created by a Colombian fitness instructor in the 1990s.  Alberto Perez forgot his traditional aerobics music for a class he was teaching one day and> so he used his own tapes.  They consisted of mainly salsa style music, so he improvised and> Zumba was created!  Zumba is a fitness programme inspired by dance, the focus is really on enjoying yourself and> feeling the music, it is not about learning complicated dance moves.  The instructors try to talk as little as possible, using verbal and> visual cues so you can just move as much as possible and> not get bogged down with details, who cares if you go wrong just keep going!

I have been going to Zumba classes for just over a year and> really enjoy it, I danced as a child and> still enjoy a good boogie so Zumba is an excellent form of exercise for me.  I love it so much I have trained as an instructor!

Last week I attended the Basic 1 Zumba Instructor course and> am now a licensed Zumba instructor.  The day itself was amazing, albeit tiring.  I learnt so much and> can’t wait to get practising, choreographing and> finally teach.  I am hoping to set some classes up in my local area soon, but if you have never done it before give it a try!

P.S. I will write a separate post on the day itself for anyone interested in attending a course or already booked on one!
